A silk tie by Dare in Paris is traced, cut and sewn by hand: in Paris, in our workshop holding the Fabriqué à Paris label, for the three fold, and in Italy, by a family of tie makers, for the seven fold. The silk is woven in the Lake Como region: printed twill, grenadine, woven silk or ancient madder, with exclusive motifs drawn in Paris. A handmade silk tie to wear from the office to a wedding, by men and women alike.
Each Dare in Paris silk tie starts with a 100% silk shell woven in the Lake Como region of Italy, then is traced, cut and sewn by hand. The three fold ties, in grenadine, woven silk, printed twill or ancient madder, are made in our Paris workshop, holder of the Fabriqué à Paris label. The seven fold ties, in printed madder silk, are made in Italy by a family workshop the house has worked with from the start.
About 147 cm (58 inches) long, with a blade about 8 cm (3.15 inches) wide. Each tie leaves the workshop in its box, sealed with the house’s wax seal, with a handwritten note.
A three fold tie is the classic construction: the silk is folded three times around a wool based interlining that runs the whole length, and both ends are tipped by hand. A clean, structured fall, and the dimple forms under the knot.
A seven fold tie is cut from a single large square of silk folded seven times on itself, with no interlining and no lining: the folds alone give the body. Soft and light, both ends hand rolled.
The thickness of a tie comes from the silk, woven or printed, not from the number of folds. The thickest ties in the collection are the three fold ties in woven silk, grenadine above all.
At the office, a plain grenadine or a small motif goes with every suit and every collar.
For a wedding, choose a lighter tie by day and a deeper one in the evening: a seven fold in printed madder brings relief to a sober outfit. After dark, the motif can be bolder.
And if the dress code calls for black tie, our silk bow ties, pre-tied and adjustable, are the cousins of these ties.
Dare in Paris is an online house based in Paris. Its ties are designed there, with exclusive motifs drawn in Paris, and sewn by hand in Paris for the three fold and in Italy for the seven fold, alongside the house’s bow ties, silk squares and scarves.

A seven fold tie is made from a single large square of silk, folded seven times on itself by hand, with no interlining and no lining. The construction gives a full knot, a soft fall and a light hand. Dare in Paris seven fold ties are sewn by hand in Italy, in printed madder silk, in limited quantities.
Grenadine is a woven silk with an open, almost knitted weave, recognizable by its raised grain. Matte and textured, it makes plain ties of great depth, easy to knot and very versatile, from the work suit to the weekend blazer. Dare in Paris grenadine ties are three fold ties, sewn by hand in Paris.
The dimple is the small fold that forms under the knot as you tighten it. It appears only on a well made tie, whatever the construction. Pinch the blade just under the knot while you tighten, and the dimple stays in place all day.
The tie remains the most versatile choice for a wedding: it lengthens the silhouette and is worn from morning to night. The bow tie is the rule with a dinner jacket or an evening dress code. The couple can also stand out by wearing the bow tie when the guests wear ties, or the reverse.
Silk does not go in the washing machine and reacts badly to water: a drop leaves a ring as it dries. Store the tie flat or rolled, away from direct light, and leave any stain to a professional dry cleaner.
If a crease persists, hold a garment steamer about ten centimeters (four inches) from the silk, and never place an iron directly on it.
