A seven fold tie by Dare in Paris is sewn by hand in Italy, by a family of tie makers the Maison has worked with from the start, with more than 30 years of tie making. A single large square of printed madder silk, from the printer Fermo Fossati in the Como area, is folded seven times on itself. No interlining, no lining: the folds alone give the body. Soft, light, hand rolled at both ends, in limited quantities.

A seven fold tie is cut from a single large square of silk, folded seven times on itself by hand. Where a classic tie relies on an interlining for its body, the seven fold has none: no interlining, no lining, only silk, and the folds alone give the tie its shape and its weight.
It is a construction of the sartorial workshops, and the Maison offers it in limited quantities. The dimensions stay classic: about 147 cm (58 inches) long, with a blade about 8 cm (3.15 inches) wide.

The silk is a printed madder, and the fabric comes from the printer Fermo Fossati, in the Como area. The seven fold is the Italian chapter of the collection: the Maison’s three fold ties, for their part, are sewn in Paris.
Without interlining, the tie is soft and light in the hand. The silk falls freely and the knot is full without being stiff.
Both ends are hand rolled rather than tipped, so the tie is silk through and through, front and back. The thickness comes from the silk itself: a seven fold in printed madder is lighter than a three fold in woven grenadine, the thickest tie in the collection.
A soft tie asks for a simple knot. The four-in-hand gives a narrow, slightly asymmetrical knot that suits the seven fold well; the half Windsor gives a fuller, symmetrical knot without adding bulk. Pinch the blade under the knot as you tighten it, and the dimple forms.
Wear it for a wedding, a dinner or any day the tie should be the quiet detail of the outfit, with a plain shirt so the printed madder reads clearly. It is worn by men and women alike. If the dress code calls for black tie, our silk bow ties take over.

The three fold tie, sewn in Paris, has a wool based interlining along its whole length and both ends tipped by hand: a clean, structured fall for every day. The seven fold has no interlining and a softer, lighter hand. The thickness comes from the silk, not from the number of folds.

Silk does not go in the washing machine and reacts badly to water: a drop leaves a ring as it dries. Store the tie flat or rolled, away from direct light, and leave any stain to a professional dry cleaner.
If a crease persists, hold a garment steamer about ten centimeters (four inches) from the silk, and never place an iron directly on it.
