For this purple silk scarf, we chose an exceptional pure silk twill. Light, fluid and soft, the cloth has a beautiful hand and falls naturally. The printing is done to the highest standard, so the ink passes right through the weave, what our printers call la traverse, and the design reads just as clearly on both sides. The result is deep and vivid, and it lifts an outfit without ever taking it over. It is easy to wear every day, and just as right for an occasion.
A 12 momme twill, about 52 grams per square meter: the classic weight for a silk square. Momme tells you the weight of the silk, not its quality; bed linen is woven at 19 or 22 momme, a square is worn at 12. Dense enough to be opaque and let the color come through to the reverse, light enough to knot and fall softly. After printing, the silk is steamed to set the colors, washed, then finished: this finishing is what gives the twill its fluid hand and its drape.
